Brazilian midfielder Nene has hinted that he is ready to sign a new contract at Parc des Princes.
Nene, 31, was believed to be unhappy by the lack of playing time this season and he was heavily tipped to leave the Saints in the January transfer window.
The player even suggested that he would return to Brazil in order to be closer to his family, but it appears he has now changed his mind.
Namely, Nene is now open to sign an extension to the contract that is due to expire at the end of the current season.
“Club chiefs will soon meet my agents. I am doing my job and it is the club that will decide whether I continue or not,” Nene said to Le Parisien.
“I’ve always said that I want to continue here. I love Paris, I love the club. I want to stay.”
Despite his desire to extend his current deal with the Saints, the club officials could opt against offering Nene a new contract.
With Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez already in the side, and Lucas Moura set to arrive in January, there are no guarantees the Brazilian will remain at Parc des Princes.
