(GSM) – FC Twente no longer share the lead in the Eredivisie as the Enschede outfit crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Ajax on Sunday.
After joint leaders PSV beat ADO on Saturday, Twente needed a win at the Amsterdam Arena to stay in shared first place.
But Ajax were clearly the better side at home and scored the opener through Demy de Zeeuw in the 22nd minute.
Marko Pantelic made it 2-0 shortly before the break and Danish winger Dennis Rommedahl went on to add a third and final goal in the 75th minute.
Ajax do remain in third place, at six points from Twente and nine from PSV.
Fourth-placed Feyenoord lost touch with the top three following a 1-2 defeat by reigning champions AZ Alkmaar.
Mounir El Hamdaoui put AZ ahead after 28 minutes but an own goal from Pontus Wernbloom balanced things with six minutes left before the break. The decider came in the 87th minute when Hector Moreno netted the winning goal for AZ.
