Defending Dutch champions Twente got their first victory of the season, beating Vitesse 0-3 in Amsterdam while Ajax beat Roda JC 3-0 to jump of the top of the table.

After goalless draws in both of their first two games, the pressure was on for Twente to start scoring at Arnhem’s Gelredome stadium.

It was not until the 58th minute that the deadlock finally got broken as Marc Janko directed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper. Luuk de Jong added another two, in the 66th and 90th minute, for a 0-3 final result.

Ajax had little difficulty taking distance from Roda at the Amsterdam ArenA, where Mounir El Hamdaoui scored the opener on 34 minutes. Luis Suarez made it 2-0 seven minutes after the break and El Hamdaoui got another in the 71st minute, 3-0.

Although Ajax are now in first place, they could be surpassed again on Sunday when previous leaders PSV host AZ in Eindhoven.
