(GSM) – Feyenoord suffered an incredible 10-0 defeat at PSV Eindhoven in Sunday’s Dutch league action, making it the team’s worst Eredivisie loss ever.
The match at Philips stadium had been under way for 24 minutes when Jonathan Reis put the home side in the lead. Ten minutes later, Feyenoord’s Kelvin Leerdam conceded a yellow card and it looked like it was going to be a difficult afternoon for the Rotterdam outfit.
Ibrahim Afellay made it 2-0 five minutes after the red card but the worst was yet to come for Feyenoord as PSV crushed their opponents after the break.
Jonathan Reis (2), Ola Toivonen and Jeremain Lens found the target in the first 15 minutes after the interval to hand PSV a shocking 6-0 lead at the hour mark.
Further goals from Balazs Dzsudzsak (2), Orlando Engelaar and another from Lens, led to a double digit victory for the home side.
Ajax meanwhile, dropped to third place after drawing 2-2 at Excelsior in Rotterdam. The home side initially took a 2-0 lead with first-half goals from Daan Bovenberg and Kevin Wattamaleo, but Ajax fought back through Mounir El-Hamdaoui and Jan Vertonghen in the second half.
Ajax were a man down for most of the match as Vurnon Anita was sent off in the 27th minute.
Twente jumped to second place, at the expense of Ajax, following a 3-2 win over ADO Den Haag.
Theo Janssen’s opening goal for Twente in the 27th minute was canceled out by ADO’s Dmitri Bulykin in the 44th, and Frantisek Kubik even handed the visiting side the lead nine minutes after the break.
But Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz equalised from the spot in the 58th minute and Marc Janko netted the winner 12 minutes later, 3-2.
