(GSM) – Twente are the new leaders in the Dutch Eredivisie after earning a vital 0-1 victory at PSV Eindhoven on Saturday.

PSV defended their top spot at their own Philips stadium, where the first half against defending champions Twente went by without goals.

The deadlock was broken on the hour mark though, as Nacer Chadli left ‘keeper Andreas Isaksson without a chance to hand Twente a 0-1 lead.

PSV went a man down in the 84th minute as Jagos Vukovic received a direct red card, making Twente’s task of defending their advantage a little easier.

Twente surpass PSV for first place, and are now one point ahead.

Elsewhere, Ajax were much too strong for Heracles as the Amsterdam outfit earned a 1-4 victory.

Moroccan striker Mounir El Hamdaoui scored the opener in the 16th minute, but had his goal canceled out by Willy Overtoom in the 38th.

Rasmus Lindgren then restored Ajax’ lead in the 55th minute and defender Andre Ooijer made it 1-3 in the 78th. The fourth and final goal came from Miralem Sulejmani in the 81st minute.
