Neuer expects Germany to improve

Manuel Neuer has warned Germany’s rivals his team are still some way from reaching top form at Euro 2012.

Germany beat Group B rivals Portugal, Netherlands and Denmark to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the competition, and will now face Greece in the last eight.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer wants to see more from the team as the tournament continues, and cautioned against complacency in the match against unfancied Greece.

“We did not have an easy group. All the teams had their specific qualities, and it wasn’t easy for us. However, I believe that we still have room for improvement,” Neuer told Goal.com.

“Ahead of the tournament, we were already hoping to win all our group games and reach the quarter-finals as group winners. It’s important that we don’t have to travel (and can stay in Gdansk).

“The players won’t underestimate Greece. We know that a team like them can hurt us, too, just like Denmark did. I think Greece are at the same level.

“They are an aggressive team with a lot of determination and strength. Nobody expected them to progress at the expense of Russia, but we will not underestimate any team.”

The quarter-final between Germany and Greece takes place in Gdansk on June 22.
