Neuer hints at Schalke stay

Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer has hinted he could stay at Alianz Arena amidst speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United have been trying very hard to lure the Germany international during the past few weeks, but Schalke boss Felix Magath expects Neuer to remain at the club.

“I would recommend Manuel to extend his contract for another two, three, four, five years…,” said Magath.

Schalke are prepared to offer their most prized asset a pay rise of €3 million, meaning Neuer would earn €5 million per season if he decides to extend his current deal.

Neuer himself seems to be warming up to the idea of staying at the club.

“I expect to play for Schalke next year. Once they make me an offer, I will first talk to Schalke.”
