Manuel Neuer was left out of Bayern Munich’s squad for DFB-Pokal quarter-final against Heidenheim on Wednesday due to a calf injury and Robert Lewandowski was only named on the bench.
Neuer sat out Bayern’s last game, a 1-1 draw at Freiburg last Saturday that handed Borussia Dortmund a two-point advantage in the Bundesliga title race.
With the Bundesliga’s top two set to meet at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, former Dortmund striker Lewandowski was left out of the starting XI against Heidenheim due to illness.
Sven Ulreich retained his place between the posts, with David Alaba (muscular) the other notable absentee for Niko Kovac’s side, who have reached the semi-finals in each of the past nine seasons.
