Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has revealed that he studied the way Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo likes to take his penalties.
The Germany international saved efforts from the ex-Manchester United forward and Kaka, before Sergio Ramos blasted his attempt over the bar to give Bastian Schweinsteiger the honours to fire his side into the tournament decider against Chelsea.
“I always prepare myself for such situations,” Neuer told Bild.
“Our goalkeeping coach, Toni Tapalovic, showed me on his laptop before the match how Ronaldo usually takes his penalties.
“I learned that Ronaldo prefers to send the ball low to his left. In the penalty shoot-out, I was convinced that he would aim for his favourite spot.”
The German keeper then mocked Ramos for his failed attempt, stating: “I did not know that he would prefer to send it over the bar.”
The Champions League final at the Allianz Arena is scheduled for May 19.
