Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle, a rumour which started before the 20 Premier League clubs failed to ban loan deals between clubs owned by the same entity (Newcastle and Al-Hilal are both owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund), but it grew apace afterwards, with no legal obstacle to prevent it from happening.
However, there have also been claims that it would not happen, and now, Neves himself has confirmed he has no intention of returning to England just yet.
“I don’t go,” Neves told the BBC. “I’m really happy here, my family’s really happy”.
“I think that’s rumours because of the owner of the clubs of course, and I’ve played in England as well. There was Newcastle interest before I came here,” he added.
The 26-year-old Portugal international spent six years playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers and even earned the captaincy at the Molineux, before leaving for Saudi Arabia in a deal which saw the Premier League club receive a reported fee of €55 million.
