Chelsea are currently in a very difficult position in many aspects, not least when it comes to transfers or contract renewals. They are able to do neither at the moment, which raises questions about a number of their players. Some have reportedly already decided to leave this summer, but according to Joao Santos, the agent representing Jorginho, the Italy international is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge despite him being aware of interest from Juventus.
“The market is blocked for Chelsea – if the situation gets resolved, the priority will be to extend the contract with Chelsea”, Santos told Calciomercato. “I haven’t talked to Juventus but I know of their interest”.
Unlike defenders Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho will still have 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season, so if he is indeed resolved to continue playing for Chelsea, there’s no rush yet and both the Champions League holders and the 30-year-old midfielder can bide their time over a renewal, saving it for the moment when the situation is resolved.
