(GSM) – Louis van Gaal is set for to be rewarded for his recent good work at Bayern München.

Club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hinted Bayern could move to extend van Gaal’s contract at the club.

Van Gaal had a struggling start at the Allianz Arena but the Dutch coach has transformed Bayern’s fortunes this season with the club winning their last 13 games in all competitions.

Van Gaal’s current deal expires in June 2011 but Rummenigge is ready to reward the former Barcelona manager with a new long-term contract.

“We are keen on having stability and when this form of continuity means successful work with manager Louis van Gaal then there will be nothing standing in his way,” Rummenigge told Deutsches Sport-Fernsehen.

“So June 2011 will then not be the end of the flagpole.

“It is a fact that the manager and the squad have made an adaptation and have pushed each to their current level now.

“No-one has to forget we had to deal without Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the first months.

“It is a fact no-one can replace such quality players without a struggle. Now they are back and now they are giving a boost to the team with their skills.

“And this is being paired with the great work of the manager.”
