According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona may already need to open new contract talks with Memphis Depay.
This is because when they signed him during the summer transfer window, they only locked him down to a two-year deal – raising some concerns that they haven’t committed enough to his long-term future.
The Barca move was always seen as something of a risk for Depay in terms of his career prospects but as of this writing, he still seems to be pretty confident about the future and where he’s going to go next from a “success” standpoint.
Barcelona are in the midst of a rebuilding phase right now with Ronald Koeman at the helm, and regardless of whether or not he’s still in charge come the end of the season, the club will almost certainly want to keep someone as talented as Depay on the books – regardless of how much it may cost them.
