Competition: MLS
Market: New England win
Odds: 6/5 @ 888sport
Looking to make it back-to-back MLS victories in the early hours of Thursday, New England will make the trip to a struggling Inter Miami in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, after watching their weekend meeting against the New York Red Bulls eventually postponed due to weather warnings, Inter Miami still find themselves in the midst of a real MLS nightmare. Really failing to find their feet since bringing in Phil Neville and with the pressure firmly on the shoulders of the former Lioness’ boss, The Herons are sat rock-bottom of the Eastern Conference. With the mood in their camp likely to still be at a season-low, Miami were last seen on July 4th getting hit with a deserved 1-0 defeat away at Montréal. Only showing a host of issues and now enduring a dreadful five-match losing run, a run that stems back to the middle of May, Neville should also have a headache over his side’s problems in the final third. It’s worth noting that Thursday’s hosts have recorded just a single goal in any of their last five defeats.
As for the visitors, while New England might have endured a torrid run of form when heading into July, The Revs will be desperate to build off of their return to winning ways over the weekend. Managing to pick up a 1-0 victory away at former champions Atlanta and extending their buffer at the top of the Eastern Conference to four points, Bruce Arena’s men should be smelling a golden chance on the road in midweek. Looking to make it back-to-back MLS victories on the road, there is no doubt that New England will be calling on attacking talisman Gustavo Bou to lead their charge. Once again bagging the winner against Atlanta over the weekend, the 31-year-old has recorded six goals in his last seven outings. Appearing at attractive odds this week, we’re backing an away win here.
