Looking to return to winning ways and secure a semi-final spot in this year’s US Open Cup, NYCFC will travel to a struggling Orlando in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, while NYCFC may have seen their five-match winning run come to an end at home to Portland last weekend, the mood in the Sky Blues’ camp will still be soaring. Holding a commanding position in the play-offs and looking to mount a charge up the Eastern Conference, Head Coach Domènec Torrent has seen his side taste defeat just once since way back on the 30th of March. A huge part of New York’s continued revival has come thanks to their performances away from Yankee Stadium. The former Manchester City coach has seen his men enjoy a seven-match unbeaten run outside of New Jersey.

As for the visitors, while Orlando may have managed to pinch a point off of Eastern title contenders Philadelphia last time out, Head Coach James O’Connor will know that his side are still in the midst of a struggle. Recording just a single victory against MLS opposition since the 1st of June and now free-falling out of the top-seven in the East, the Purples have also begun to show some real cause for concern at the Exploria Stadium. Losing three of their last four matches on home soil, we’re backing a high-flying NYCFC to come out on top in midweek.
