New York City FC have just finished their MLS campaign but the transfer rumours have already started spreading about a big Premier League name joining the American outfit.
As a club that nurtures a close partnership with Premier League title chargers Manchester City, the MLS side are hoping to work out a move for the Citizens’ out-of-sorts midfield star Yaya Toure.
The Ivory Coast star appeared in just four matches this season for Pep Guardiola’s team and is once again being heavily linked with a departure.
And with Andrea Pirlo leaving New York City FC after announcing his retirement, the MLS charges are keen to approach their friends and business partners for a potential deal for Toure.
Manchester City star would not require a Designated Player roster spot which only intensified NYCFC’s interest in Toure, NBC Sports has reported.
Head coach Patrick Vieira could play an important role in persuading the player to join MLS side in January, but Manchester City are said to be more open to a summer move as Pep Guardiola is not too keen on weakening his squad amid the title chase.
The Citizens are currently installed as 1/6 favourites to lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
