(GSM) – New York Red Bulls are back on top of the Eastern Conference in the Major League Soccer following a narrow win over Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
With Thierry Henry back in the starting line-up, New York hosted Kansas at the Red Bull Arena where Jamaican Dane Richards scored the only goal after just six minutes, 1-0.
As Columbus Crew were held to a goalless draw at home against San Jose Earthquakes, the Ohio side lose their Eastern Conference lead to New York who are now one point ahead.
In the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake beat New England Revolution 1-2 to jump to the top position.
Nat Borchers’ 68th-minute opening goal for Real Salt Lake was canceled out by Kenny Mansally in the 82nd, but Costa Rican striker Alvaro Saborio netted the winner two minutes later.
Real Salt Lake are now a point ahead of Los Angeles Galaxy, but the latter still have Sunday’s city derby with Chivas USA ahead.
