Taking a break from the MLS campaign, New England will make the trip to the Red Bull Arena in the fourth round of this year’s US Open Cup in the early hours of Wednesday.

Starting with the hosts, after throwing away a 2-0 lead and slumping to a 3-2 defeat away at Eastern title contenders Philadelphia last weekend, Chris Armas will be demanding an immediate response from his side in midweek. Glad to make a return to the Red Bull Arena, a huge part of their play-off push has come thanks to their performances on home soil. Putting four past Real Salt Lake in their last appearance in New Jersey, Wednesday’s hosts are unbeaten in their last three matches in front of their own supporters and have tasted defeat just once since the start of April.

As for the visitors, picking up a very surprising 2-1 win over LA Galaxy last weekend, there is no doubt that New England will be desperate to keep up their momentum. While they might sit way down in 11th and find themselves in a bottom of the table battle, the Revolution are unbeaten in their last four appearances, however, there still remains plenty of concerns over their form away from the Gillette Stadium. New England have remarkably recorded just a single away victory since September, including a 5-0 hammering away at Chicago and a 6-1 drumming away at Philadelphia last month. Suffering a 2-0 loss when they last made the trip to the Red Bull Arena, we’re backing Wednesday’s hosts to book their spot in the fifth round.
