Only looking to pile more pressure onto a dreadful Inter Miami this weekend, New York Red Bulls will open this weekend’s MLS fixtures in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Starting with the hosts, while on paper it might show that New York have managed to win just one of their last four MLS matchups, that doesn’t quite tell the whole story. Eventually watching Philadelphia snatch a last-gasp flattering point at the Red Bull Arena last week, Head Coach Gerhard Struber has still seen his side continue to impress many across America this season. Tipped as one of the leading picks to land themselves another Final Series spot in the Eastern Conference, the former Barnsley boss should be smelling a golden chance on home soil this weekend. More impressive, it should be noted, despite having to settle for a point against The Union last time out, New York are unbeaten in each of their last five MLS home fixtures and they have collected 13 points on that purple patch.

As for the visitors, putting in what was another toothless display away at Montréal last weekend, Inter Miami find themselves in the midst of what has become a real MLS nightmare. Really failing to find any kind of form under new boss Phil Neville and with some already calling for the former Manchester United defender to be given the sack, the mood in their camp is at a real low. Last seen getting hit with a 1-0 defeat on the road, just their goal difference is keeping them off bottom spot in the Eastern Conference. Now in the midst of a five-match losing run, a run that stems all the way back to the middle of May, Neville’s side know that they face another overwhelming test on the road this weekend. Given the huge gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing a home victory here.
