Market: New York Red Bulls double chance
Odds: 2/3 @ 888sport
Looking to find a route back into the Final Series spots in the early hours of Thursday, New York Red Bulls will make the trip to Toronto in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, while Toronto might not have been at their best once again over the weekend, they did manage to land themselves a hard-fought point against Orlando thanks to a 1-1 draw. Just about able to build off of that action-packed 3-2 victory away at New England earlier in the month, interim boss Javier Pérez still finds his side seeking some stability. Only showing a host of issues since opening the 2021 campaign and really failing to match a similar level they set in their second-place finish last year, The Reds hold just a single-point buffer from dropping to the foot of the Eastern Conference. Facing what could be another stern test when The Red Bulls come to town in midweek, Toronto have gained a reputation for their issues on home soil. Thursday’s hosts have managed to record just a single win from their five MLS matchups at BMO Field this season.
As for the visitors, after watching their weekend matchup against Inter Miami get scrapped due to a weather warning in New York, The Red Bulls should have relished their extra break. Last seen putting in a dominant display, despite having to settle for a 1-1 draw against Philadelphia Union on home soil earlier in the month, Gerhard Struber’s side have largely impressed since they appointed the former Barnsley boss. Now within touching distance of breaking back into the Final Series spots, The Whites have lost just one of their last six MLS matchups, a run that stems back to May 23rd. Last seen on the road grabbing a 2-1 victory against Orlando, New York should also be boosted by their rampant record against Thursday’s opponents. Landing back-to-back wins against Toronto, The Red Bulls will fancy their chances in midweek.
