New York Red Bulls are interesting in hiring Vasco da Gama midfielder Juninho Pernambucano, according to A Bola.
Juninho, 37, has less than a month left on his deal with the Brazilian giants and is free to negotiate a Bosman contract with interested clubs.
Vasco da Gama chiefs are prepared to go the extra mile to keep the veteran midfielder at the club, but a difficult financial situation could prove to be a problem.
A Bola understands that the player himself is not interested in contract extension and is ready for a new challenge.
New York Red Bulls are keen to add the Brazilian to their star-studded squad that already contain the likes of Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill and Rafa Marquez.
Juninho, who joined Vasco da Gama on a free transfer from Al Gharafa in the summer of 2011, has scored 15 goals in 63 league appearances for the club.
The former Lyon star is still regarded as one of the world’s best free-kick takers.
