As first reported by The Telegraph, whose story has since been corroborated by other sources as well, Newcastle are in talks to sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester City. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe wants the 25-year-old winger in his ranks, he is keen on the move as he would obviously rather play in the Champions League than the Championship, and the negotiations between the clubs have started, and that’s about as far as things have gone so far.
Barnes is a product of the Leicester academy, and early in his career he had loan spells with MK Dons, Barnsley and West Bromwich Albion. He returned to the parent club to take his place in the senior squad in 2019, and since then, he’s played a total of 187 matches in all competitions for the Foxes, scoring 45 goals and laying on 32 assists. He played a major role in Leicester’s 2021 success, when they won the FA Cup as well as the Community Shield.
Barnes was previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
