Newcastle and Venables just don’t go together.

The rumour that Terry Venables is going to take the temporary manager’s job at Newcastle is in most of this morning’s newspapers.

If this actually happens it would seem a strange appointment from both sides. Why on earth would a sixty-four year old, been there, done that, football man, want to put himself into the turmoil that is Newcastle United?

On the other hand, with so much ‘anti cockney’ feeling around St James’ Park, particularly in relation to Dennis Wise, it would seem to be a strange move to appoint the original chirpy cockney who happens to be a great mate of Wise’s.
