Premiership duo West Ham and Newcastle are said to be on alert after Barcelona have told former-Chelsea star Eidur Gudjohnsen that he can leave the club according to The Sun.
The striker is said to be worth around £4 million to Barcelona, which will be seen as a bargain for a man who has a proven track record in England and was signed for around £10 million just two years ago.
Gudjohnsen, 29, played in England for 8 years with spells at Bolton and Chelsea before moving to the Spanish giants in 2006. Whilst at Chelsea Gudjohnsen formed a deadly partnership with fellow striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and continued to star in the Chelsea side even when they had spent millions on new players after Roman Abramovich arrived at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham reportedly tried to sign the player last year without success and with the news that Gudjohnsen is available the Hammers are sure to bid again. Kevin Keegan is said to be looking for new talent to bring to St. James’ Park after a dismal showing last year and has targeted Gudjohnsen as the man to front the line for Toon.
