Newcastle bid for Djuricic revealed
Newcastle are in talks with Benfica over the signing of Serbian midfielder Filip Djuricic, the player’s official representative has revealed.
The Magpies are desperate to sign a replacement for Yohan Cabaye, and they decided to turn to the Serbia international after their primary target Clement Grenier had rejected a switch to St James’ Park.
Filip Djuricic’s agent has confirmed he has been in contact with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, meaning the deal could be completed by today’s transfer deadline.
“It’s true about Newcastle,” agent Ulisses Santos told One World Sports on Thursday. “I have been speaking with Alan Pardew this week so let’s see what has happened by the end of tomorrow (Friday).”
Filip Djuricic only arrived at Estadio da Luz in the summer, but he has struggled to prove his worth in Portugal.
The 22-year-old only made four appearances in Primeira Liga, last featuring for the club in November 2013.
Should they agree a deal with Benfica, Newcastle would have no problems obtaining a work permit for the player given that he has been a first team regular in the national team over the last two years.
Milan confirm Biabiany deal
AC Milan have moved to confirm that they are set to complete the signing of French midfielder Jonathan Biabiany from Parma.
Il Ducali president had earlier revealed that the Frenchman could be leaving in January, and he appears on the verge of joining the Rossoneri.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that the transfer is likely to be completed on Friday.
“Biabiany is liked by Seedorf, with him we can also change formation,” Galliani told reporters last night.
“The deal will be tomorrow (Friday), it is currently on stand-by.”
According to reports from Italy, the Rossoneri will pay around €5 million for the player, with Cristian Zaccardo and Riccardo Saponara set to move in the opposite direction.
Jonathan Biabiany, who had come through the youth ranks at Inter, has scored a total of 15 goals in 119 Serie A appearances for Parma.
Atletico in talks for Banega
Spanish daily newspaper Marca is reporting that Atletico Madrid are negotiating a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Ever Banega from Valencia.
Los Colchoneros are hoping to lure the highly rated midfielder to Vicente Calderon by the end of the winter transfer window and their league rivals are ready to entertain offers.
Atletico though first need to offload one of their current players, but the latest reports are suggesting summer signing Joshua Guilavogui is set to return to Saint Etienne.
Ever Banega was left out of Valencia squad for the Barcelona match, which is enough to suggest he is expected to leave Mestalla by Friday’s deadline.
The Argentine lost his place in the side this season and in turn expressed his desire to leave los Che for greener pastures.
His suitors Atletico Madrid remain tied on points with La Liga leaders Barcelona, and are currently priced at 15/2 to lift the coveted trophy.
