Newcastle United are ready to cash in on French defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Daily Mirror has suggested.
The former France international was loaned to Roma in the summer after failing to make the grade at St James’ Park and has since put in some excellent displays for the Giallorossi.
With Davide Astori and Leandro Castan out injured, the 25-year-old has featured in six matches already this term, earning rave reviews for his performances.
However, in spite of the good run of form, Newcastle do not plan to keep hold of the player seeing as how they don’t think he has what it takes to star in English Premier League.
Roma have reportedly agreed a £5.5 million deal to make Yanga-Mbiwa’s loan deal permanent, which should see the experienced centre-back sign a long-term contract at Stadio Olimpico in January.
Yanga-Mbiwa joined Newcastle in a £6.3 million deal from Montpellier in January 2013 and has since made 37 Premier League appearances.
