Newcastle are stepping up their interest in Twente defender Douglas Franco Teixeira, Voetbal International understands.
The Magpies are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent history as they currently occupy the fifth place in English Premier League standings.
The club chiefs are determined to continue the uptrend in fortunes and they are already searching for summer reinforcements.
According to Dutch newspaper Voetbal International, Newcastle are ready to offer around €5 million for Twente defender Douglas Teixeira.
The player recently admitted he was interested in a move to England, but the Brazilian wants to stay with Tukkers until late August.
By that time it will have been five years since he arrived to Holland, which would allow him to represent Oranje at international level.
Douglas is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Dutch Eredivisie and he has scored 3 goals in 24 league appearances this season.
