Liverpool striker, Peter Crouch, has not had a good past season as he played second fiddle to Fernando Torres at Liverpool and now he looks set to leave Anfield. There are several teams in England which are thought to be interested. Portsmouth is one of them and Newcastle is the other, according to The People.
Liverpool initially put an outrageous price tag on their English striker of £15 million, but they have relaxed their stance since and Newcastle think that an £8 million bid would do the trick. But Keegan is not sure he would get the board’s backing in a bid for Crouch. The People believes that Dennis Wise – director of football – is thinking of other targets.
Bafetimbi Gomis, of St Etienne, is one of them. The powerful French forward scored two spectacular goals on his international debut for France which caught the eye of the football world. What is worrying for Keving Keegan is that Dennis Wise does have the backing of the board. So, the Newcatsle manager could soon find himself with a player he does not want at the club.
