Ah, Luke Shaw, the man who can’t do anything right in the eyes of a certain Jose Mourinho. Last month reports suggested that the pair weren’t even on speaking terms, and as the January transfer window grows ever closer it seems that a departure from Manchester United is the only option for the disgruntled left back.
Shaw is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League for United this season, perhaps as punishment for some obscure misdemeanour. What that means is that getting into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup could be quite difficult (though perhaps it would best be avoided anyway to save the embarrassment of losing to Iceland again).
Luckily for the 22-year old, Newcastle United want to offer him salvation, but only if they don’t have to pay too much to do so. According to the Guardian, the Magpies won’t match United’s £20m valuation, but one can only assume that the Manchester club will lower that as they look to offload Shaw as quickly as possible.
A move is vital for the player, who is still young as clearly possesses a lot of talent. Game time is everything these days, especially when it comes to national team selection, and Shaw will certainly get some should he make the switch to Newcastle.
