According to a recent report from Bild, Newcastle United have put Wolfsburg forward Wout Weghorst at the top of their wish list ahead of the summer transfer window.
The belief is that Weghorst, who managed to score 16 goals in the Bundesliga this season, could be the answer to the Magpies’ prayers in regards to bringing in a consistent goalscorer.
Newcastle are going to face some stiff competition for his signature, though, most notably in the form of fellow Premier League side Arsenal. The North East outfit could have the edge if they’re able to get the Premier League to agree to their proposed takeover, but if it all comes down to reputation, Weghorst may choose to favour the Gunners.
Both of these clubs are in desperate need of big spending during the window and nobody can deny that, but they have to first see how the rest of the PL season turns out for them.
