Newcastle eye Gibbs move

Rafael Benitez is keen to make Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs his first signing at Newcastle United, according to the Daily Star.

Gibbs has barely featured for Arsene Wenger’s side so this season, making just three Premier League starts with Nacho Monreal ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Gunners value the England international at around £12m, not least because he is contracted until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Aside from a brief loan spell with Norwich City during the 2007/08 campaign, the twenty-six year old has spent his entire career at the Emirates Stadium, racking up over two hundred appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

Internationally, he has been capped ten times for his country with his last appearances coming in the 2-0 friendly victory over France back in November.

Arsenal host Norwich in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League with the home win priced at 2/7.
