Newcastle eyeing Berbatov deal

The Mirror understands that Newcastle United are interested in signing Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov next month.

The North East club are unlikely to be involved in any big money deals when the transfer window reopens, but will be happy take advantage of the fact that the 33 year old is entering the final six months of his contract by tabling a £2m bid.

Their current top scorer is loan star Loic Remy, but there are no guarantees that they will be able to keep hold of him beyond this season.

Berbatov moved to Craven Cottage last August, and scored fifteen league goals last season, though he has struggled to repeat such form this time around, though he has put away penalty kicks in both of his sides last two fixtures.

Rene Meulensteen’s men can be backed at a price of 15/2 to take all three points against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

Really, this is a wind up. How many 33 YO players has Pardew signed? Remember Viduka, another great in his time, that time caught up with whilst at St James, wont happen ever.
