Newcastle United are keen on signing Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to Sky Sports.
The twenty-three-year-old, who is valued at around £10m, is one of a number of targets for head coach Steve McClaren who is attempting to strengthen his squad this month.
The North East side currently sit in the relegation zone two points from safety and crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, losing to Premier League rivals Watford.
Shelvey’s last game for the Swans came on Sunday afternoon, as the South Wales side were themselves eliminated from the FA Cup, losing to League Two promotion hopefuls Oxford United.
The England international moved to the Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2013 and has since racked up ninety-six appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring ten goals.
The former Charlton Athletic and Liverpool man has also been capped six times for his country.
