Newcastle United are confident of agreeing a January deal for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend, according to the Mail Online.
The twenty-four year old has played just sixty-four minutes of Premier League football so far this season and is almost certain to be sold when the transfer window reopens.
A host of clubs are likely to be interested in the England international though the North East side are confident of winning the race to secure his services.
Since making his Spurs in January 2011, Townsend has turned out ninety-three times for the North London club in all competitions, scoring ten goals.
He has had loan spells with nine different sides including Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City and Leeds United while internationally he has been capped ten times for England, scoring three times.
Newcastle are also considering a move for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who is contracted with the South Wales side until 2019.
