Newcastle go after Depay

According to a recent report from Sport, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona’s Memphis Depay.

The belief for a while now is that Depay, who has been on World Cup duty with the Netherlands, will leave the Nou Camp in search of pastures new – perhaps as early as the January transfer window.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have money to spare, and that much is an understatement.

Things haven’t quite worked out for Depay up to this point in his Barca run but even with that being the case, there still seems to be a real determination behind him to kickstart his career back up.

The 28-year-old is also being chased by other clubs, including Galatasaray, but this feels like a switch that could make all the sense in the world.

He wasn’t able to find consistent success at Manchester United and if he wants a second crack at the Premier League, why not go to a club riding a huge wave of momentum?
