Newcastle go after Lenglet

According to a recent report from Sport, Newcastle United are interested in trying to sign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.

The 26-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp this season with many believing it’s just a matter of time before he departs from the club after a relatively disappointing tenure with the Spanish giants.

Newcastle, on the other hand, are hoping to make a significant splash during the January transfer window in the wake of their recent Saudi-led takeover. They’re interested in bringing in another centre-back to help tide them over for the remainder of the season, with the primary goal being to ensure they stay in the Premier League.

The Magpies need to walk before they can run as we all know but it’ll certainly be interesting to see how insistent they are in bringing in a few big names within the first year of their ownership.
