Turkish media outlet Hurriyet has suggested that Newcastle United were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Gary Rodrigues from Galatasaray.
The Magpies were in the market for attacking reinforcements following the slow start to the season, and they reportedly tried to recruit the Cape Verde international.
But, while the club were ready to consider Newcastle United’s £6 million proposal, they eventually decided to hold on to the player after speaking with manager Igor Tudor.
Rodrigues joined the club from PAOK in a £3 million deal back in January and went on to score one goal in 16 league appearances.
However, he then enjoyed a bright start to the new campaign and already has two goals to his name.
After enjoying the first win of the season against West Ham, Newcastle are 9/4 to defeat Swansea City on the road.
