According to Talk Sport, Newcastle will have a battle on their hands if they are to sign Austrian defender Aleksandar Dragovic in the transfer window as another three European teams are all keeping tabs on him.
Dragovic is currently plying his trade with Swiss champions Basel, where he has impressed since joining last year.
He also went up against Manchester United twice last season in the Champions League, so is no stranger to playing the big teams.
However, it is not just the Magpies that are keen to secure his services as Inter Milan, Stuttgart and Fiorentina are all monitoring his performances.
This could now spark a bidding war for the 21-year-old, who Basel currently value at £5.5 million. The Swiss side could now manage to ask for a bigger fee with so much interest in one of their most prized assets.
English Premier League outfit Newcastle have had their injury problems at the back this season and if Alan Pardew wants to bring in Dragovic, then he make have to make his move in the January transfer window.
Many believe Inter Milan to be the front-runners though, especially if they continue their good form and look as though they can challenge for the Serie A title.
