Newcastle United are interested in signing Joe Willock from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to The Times. Willock spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Newcastle, who want to bring the 21-year-old midfielder back to St. James’ Park on another loan deal for the 2021-22 campaign.
It has been reported that Newcastle have opened talks with Arsenal over signing Willock on loan for next season. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has yet to make a decision on the future of 21-year-old, but if Albert Sambi Lokonga joins, then it is going to open the door for the English youngster to leave the Gunners on another temporary deal.
Willock played well for Newcastle on loan last season and helped Steve Bruce’s side avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship. The 21-year-old midfielder made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies, scoring eight goals in the process.
