Newcastle United are interested in signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic. It has been reported that Newcastle have made a move to sign Palmer on loan from Premier League rivals City for the second half of the season.
Eddie Howe’s side have made a loan bid for Palmer, but defending Premier League champions City have turned it down. Ferran Torres, who is a winger by trade but has been playing up front for City, is on the verge of moving to Barcelona, but City manager Pep Guardiola will not Palmer leave.
Palmer is 19 years of age and is a very talented footballer. The England Under-21 international can operate as a midfielder or as a forward. The teenager has made one start and three substitute appearances in the Premier League, and three substitute appearances in the Champions League for City so far this season.
