Newcastle United were offered the chance to sign Arsenal duo Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Hector Bellerin, according to The Telegraph. Maitland-Niles, who can operate as a midfielder or as a right-back, was offered to Premier League club Newcastle, and so was right-back Bellerin.
However, according to the report, Newcastle did not take up the offer. That’s because the the Magpies had to pay a loan fee, which was out of their budget. Newcastle signed Joe Willock from Arsenal on a permanent contract after the midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at St. James’ Park.
Everton wanted to sign Maitland-Niles on summer transfer deadline day, but Arsenal decided to keep him. Spanish right-back Bellerin moved to Real Betis on a season-long loan deal on summer transfer deadline day.
