Ever since the Newcastle takeover was completed, there has been endless speculation about potential signings in the coming transfer windows. The latest story comes from The Times, who report that, having appointed Eddie Howe to replace Steve Bruce as the manager, the Magpies are preparing a triple swoop for Serie A stars involving Thomas Strakosha, the Lazio goalkeeper, as well as Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij and midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
Brozovic’s contract with Inter expires at the end of the season and the Croatia international hasn’t yet agreed terms on a new one, which could make Inter willing to do a deal in January to avoid losing his services for fee in the summer. As for De Vrij, his contract runs a year longer, but he could still be available for a relatively small fee. Both players are 29.
Meanwhile, Strakosha, the 26-year-old Albanian international goalkeeper who will also be a free agent next summer, has made a great impression with the people tasked with following Serie A games for Newcastle.
