Premier League side Newcastle are said to be edging closer to completing a £52 million transfer for Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.
The Brazilian forward has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season for the Bundesliga side. His performances have not been left unnoticed and it is the Magpies who have emerged as frontrunners for his signature.
Newcastle have only broken their long-standing transfer record in January after signing Atlanta United Miguel Almiron for a fee standing around £21 million and it now appears they are prepared to invest more than double to bring an RB Leipzig target.
Ralf Ragnick conceded that RB Leipzig would not be able to match such a pricey bid but doubts the Magpies would make such a big-money move for the in-form forward, the German media have reported.
The 22-year-old Brazilian hotshot moved to Hoffenheim from Sport Recife in 2015 but spent two years on loan at Rapid Wien before returning to Germany at the beginning of the current campaign.
