Newcastle United are closing in on the signings of Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow from Championship promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest, according to the Mirror.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is keen to push through the double deal, with a combined price of around £5m on the table, though both players are set to be loaned back to Stuart Pearce’s side for the forthcoming campaign.
Lascelles, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, made thirty-four appearances in all competitions for the East Midlands club last season, scoring three goals while in March he won his first call-up for the England U21s.
Darlow, who has been identified as a potential long term successor to Netherlands international Tim Krul, has missed just three of the last sixty-six league matches after replacing Lee Camp as Forest’s first choice goalkeeper, with his form also attracting attention from Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool.
