Newcastle sign Atsu

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Christian Atsu from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

The winger spent last season on loan with the North East club with his five goals in thirty-two league appearances helping them clinch the Championship title and with it an immediate return to the top flight.

Since signing for Chelsea in the summer of 2013 the Ghana international has also had loan spells with Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.

However he has now secured a permanent transfer away from Stamford Bridge and, subject to him obtaining a work permit, will join up with Rafa Bentiez’s side as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Despite being passed around from pillar to post at club level, Atsu has racked up forty-two caps for his country, scoring nine times, and was part of their squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
