Newcastle United have announced that goalkeeper Tim Krul and defender Fabricio Coloccini have signed new long-term deals at St James Park.
The Dutch goalkeeper has agreed a five-year extension from the end of the season, which means his new deal does not expire until June 2017.
The Argentine, on the other hand, has signed a four-year extension that will keep him at the club until June 2016.
Both players had key roles to play in one of the most successful seasons in club’s recent history and boss Alan Pardew was delighted they have signed new long-term deals.
“These are two fantastic deals for the club and we are all absolutely delighted,” Alan Pardew told club’s official website.
“To secure new contracts for Fabricio and Tim, two pivotal players at the club, is terrific news for all concerned, not just ahead of the derby but for the long-term future of the club.”
Tim Krul has been an ever-present for Newcastle this season, having started all 26 Premier League games, whereas Fabricio Coloccini missed just one league game this term.
The news will be a big boost for the team as they prepare for the league clash with arch rivals Sunderland.
