Brazilian defender Douglas France Teixeira has confirmed reports that he is looking to leave Twente this summer.
The highly rated defender has spent last five years with the Tukkers and believes the time has come for a new challenge.
The Brazilian is eager to leave Dutch Eredivisie for one of the top European leagues.
“I have done my best for the club during last five years, we have won it all, the league and the Cup,” Douglas told NUsport.
“I want to go abroad, I have overgrown this league. I want to be tested every week.”
Newcastle United, a club where he started his career, are thought to be leading the race for the player’s signature, but Douglas claims four more clubs are interested.
“Five clubs are interested, there’s a bigger club than Newcastle United. I can still say nothing about it, but I hope I will soon travel to my new club from Brazil.”
Eredivisie champions Ajax have also expressed their interest in the towering defender, but Douglas didn’t want to negotiate a deal with the Amsterdammers.
“I have personally been in touch with Ajax and immediately said that I was not interested.”
The Brazilian defender is keen to delay his transfer until late August, in order to increase his chances of obtaining a Dutch passport.
Once he has completed five years of residence in the Netherlands, Douglas will be eligible for a passport and an opportunity to play for Oranje.
The 24-year-old has been in impressive form this season, and even managed to score 5 goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances.
