Newcastle to make Sven Botman bid in January?

Newcastle United are planning to make an official bid for Lille defender Sven Botman, according to Calciomercato. The Italian news outlet has reported that Lille want €35m (£29.8m) for Botman, and Premier League club Newcastle are willing to pay that transfer fee. AC Milan are interested in the 21-year-old as well.

Botman is one of the best and most promising young centre-backs in Europe. The Netherlands Under-21 international has scored one goal in 11 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille so far this season. Botman has also played three games in the Champions League so far this campaign.

Newcastle are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Eddie Howe’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from 16 matches.
