In what a very entertaining and thrilling game of football, City had to come from behind twice to pick up all three points from the encounter.
Ferran Torres was the star of the show, as the 21-year-old attacker scored a hat-trick for City, who are rated at 7/1 by Betfair to win the Champions League final 2-1 against Chelsea this month.
This is what we learned from the match:
Manchester City may not need a new striker
Sergio Aguero is leaving Manchester City at the end of the season. While many will suggest that manager Pep Guardiola needs to bring in a new striker as a replacement, perhaps the transformation of Torres from a winger to a front-man could save the Citizens millions in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Valencia last summer as a winger, but Guardiola has transformed him into a number nine. The youngster has scored seven goals in 14 Premier League starts and has scored four goals in four Champions League starts for the Citizens this season.
Newcastle United can be entertaining
Callum Wilson was not in the Newcastle United team due to injury, but Allan Saint-Maximin started. The winger played well when deployed upfront alongside Joelinton. With Joe Willock, Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey running from midfield, Newcastle were brilliant going on the attack. City have been superb defensively this season, but the Magpies still scored three goals against them.
Joe Willock has a big decision to make
Joe Willock scored yet another goal for Newcastle. Signed on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window, the midfielder is doing extremely during for the Magpies. The youngster is scoring goals from midfield and is showing that he can hold his own in the Premier League. The youngster will have a big decision to make this summer, whether he wants to go back to Arsenal and fight for his place in the starting lineup or make his loan deal at Newcastle permanent.
