Newcastle United are set to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It has been reported that Premier League club Newcastle have agreed a £12 million transfer fee plus add-ons with defending La Liga champions Atletico for Trippier.
The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back will now travel to Newcastle to complete a medical and agree personal terms before becoming a member of Eddie Howe’s side. Atletico wanted the 31-year-old right-back to stay, but the England international wanted to return to the Premier League.
Newcastle are in the bottom three of the Premier League table at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Atletico won the La Liga title last season.
